There are many ways you can help Hammerson House. Opportunities exist for volunteering, as well as for donating towards our running costs and improvements. We are grateful for any support you can give us.
Volunteering
Not all support needs to be financial. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers to help out in a variety of ways, from assisting us on trips, taking part in discussion groups with residents and joining in with our residents' book club, to lower- key activities such as spending time one-on-one with residents, just chatting or playing board games or cards.
Volunteering can be an immensely rewarding experience. We provide full training for prospective volunteers to ensure that they and the residents' get the most from their contribution. Volunteers enjoy our full support, and work alongside our friendly and dedicated staff.

Donations
Hammerson House relies on donations to maintain our high standards of care and comfort. We rely on the payments from Local Authorities on behalf of residents, and payments from residents themselves and their families when they do not qualify for Local Authority funding. But these sources of finance often fall short of the true cost of the high quality care we insist on providing. Furthermore, we attract no statutory funding.
This is why it is vital that people support us with donations. Only thanks to donations can we carry on our work, and also improve our facilities. If you would like to donate, please call Andrew Leigh on 020 8458 4523, or download donation form which includes details of how to send us your donation. You can also donate easily online using this link to JustGiving.com.
Legacies
Our main criterion for admission has always been personal need. But the high level of care that we regard as essential for our residents does not come cheap. Additionally, we are constantly working to improve the home, but improvements and developments cost more still.
Local authority payments to assist certain residents only cover around half of the real cost of their care and accommodation. We attract no statutory funding at all. We are able to continue only thanks to the generosity of our supporters, who help us make up the shortfall.
Many donors are unable to give significant sums during their lifetime. But a legacy allows them to ensure that we can carry on providing loving care for our residents in a Jewish environment for years to come.
Please consider remembering Hammerson House in your will. Call today on 020 8458 4523, and speak to Chief Executive Andrew Leigh who will be pleased to discuss with you the benefits of leaving a legacy to the home.
