Deposit:
All self funding residents and tenants are required to pay a deposit equating to one month's fees / rent in advance. This money is then set against the final month's fees / rent.
All fees and rents are reviewed by the Management Committee on an annual basis.
Local authority funding:
Some applicants may qualify for part funding by their local authority. In general terms to qualify, the applicant must have total assets of less then £23,250 including any property. In such a case, the applicant would apply to the local authority in which they are currently living. The local authority will then assess the applicants care needs and then decide if the applicant meet that local authority’s criteria for care (at what ever level).
Should funding be granted by the local authority, the home require written agreement from the local authority in advance of entry of the home. In such a case, the prospective resident would be advised by the local authority as to what contribution they would be expected to pay per week, this will include the state pension and any other private pension’s they are currently receiving less the statutory allowance.
Should funding be granted, this will not be at the same level as the fees listed above. While the applicant will need to make a contribution as explained above ,as a charity, Hammerson House requests that the applicants’ wider family will make up the difference between the level of local authority funding and the full cost as outlined above. This is known as a Third Party Contribution or Top Up.
It is not the intention of Hammerson House to prevent the admission of those in need of care because of an inability of their relatives, friends etc to make a third party contribution. In such circumstances, families should contact the Chief Executive or Senior Administrator who will explain the procedures in place for the trustees to consider a reduction, or even a waiver, in the level of third party contribution.
Self Funding:
Should the applicant have assets in excess of £23,250 it will be necessary for them to pay for their own care. A full statement of assets is required as part of the application form.
