On 30th April, Hammerson House merged with another care home called Nightingale, to create a new organisation called Nightingale Hammerson.
The two homes have always had a close relationship, and over recent years it has become apparent that there is a great deal of synergy between them. We have a common ethos that places the utmost importance on providing quality care for residents. Both organisations have brought a wealth of experience to the partnership, and we will all benefit from sharing our expertise.

The Lewis W Hammerson Memorial Home was founded in 1961 for older people in need of care, attention and a real home environment. Mrs Sue Hammerson, CBE, donated the site in memory of her late husband.
Today, the home provides round the clock care for 96 people in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We provide care tailored towards individual needs, with a continuing emphasis on homeliness.
We cater for varying levels of dependency by building on each resident’s strengths, enabling them to maintain as much independence as possible. Thanks to our person-centred approach to care, we are constantly improving our service to meet the changing needs of our residents.
Residents have the security of knowing that our specialist staff are on hand to help them with their needs, allowing them to stay as independent as they can, whilst providing them with all the help they need. Our staff are competent and warm, and make every effort to ensure that residents enjoy the best and most comfortable care possible.
Hammerson House is set amidst beautifully landscaped gardens, which are planted attractively with trees, shrubs and colourful flowers. The gardens have tranquil areas where residents are encouraged to spend time chatting with friends and generally relaxing in the delightful surroundings.
